BYU Canvas Account Request
Request a Canvas account at byu.instructure.com here.
At Brigham Young University, Canvas LMS is used for some (but not all) classes and programs. Also, multiple, separate Canvas systems are used, each with their own URLs and logins. Use this page to:
- determine whether you need to request Canvas access (a Canvas account)
- obtain instructions for submitting a Canvas account request.

| You are a teacher at BYU Provo, Salt Lake Center, or other classroom location (London, Jerusalem, etc.) | No, if you are setting-up a Canvas course for a current or upcoming semester. Follow these instructions for setting-up your course instead. Yes, if you are exploring Canvas, participating in Canvas-managed professional development or collaboration. |
You are BYU staff requesting Canvas access for other staff / faculty You are a teacher using Canvas for a non-AIM managed course, and have students without Canvas accounts | Yes - Please download a copy of this spreadsheet, complete it with a list of the users who need access. Each column is required. Submit the completed spreadsheet with related instructions / information to canvas_team@byu.edu . |
If you are a student who cannot access Canvas LMS, please inform your teacher, TA (teacher assistant), or program administration - They will work with our office as appropriate to troubleshoot your access.
